Chatsworth Rising Sun

The Chatsworth Rising Sun Newspaper was established in 1986 by CEO, Vijay Maharaj. Vijay recognised the need for a reputable newspaper to serve the community and address local issues in this well-known Durban suburb. At the time of establishment, under the Apartheid zoning laws, Chatsworth was a designated Indian area, and since the democratisation of South Africa in 1994, communities in Chatsworth still celebrate their vibrant culture and heritage as previously state sanctioned racial barriers recede into the past.

With over 30 years’ worth of experience in the media industry, the Chatsworth Rising Sun has built a trusting relationship with its generations of readers, and is committed to continually attaining high levels of journalistic excellence. Our mission is to serve our community as best we can as media professionals, and inform our readership about important and relevant news happening within and around the area.

The print editions of the various titles appearing under the Rising Sun umbrella reach over 51 000 readers, and our well-managed online platforms are never more than a few clicks away.
