According to the latest study released by World Wide Worx and Fuseware: South African Social Media Landscape 2016, Instagram in South Africa has recorded strong growth over the past year. The study shows that the social media platform has doubled its user base from 1.1 million in 2014 to 2.68 million in 2015.
As a local sales agent to Instagram, SPARK Media believes that the platform has multiple benefits to advertisers. “With close on 2.7 million local users, and on the back of recent news that account holders can quickly switch between multiple accounts, it’s clear that Instagram is even more on the up and up,” says SPARK Media’s Commercial Director Marius Greeff.
“With one person or one agency being able to handle multiple accounts, it makes it that much easier for multiple brand strategies to be managed and implemented. Instagram ads locally have a three times higher engagement than the industry standard, and brands that are already on board are reaping the rewards.”
Instagram advertising options include the standard photo and video ads with the additional option of carousel ads, which allows a user to swipe through multiple images and see a call to action button.
Some call to action options include book now, read now, download now, shop now, install app, learn more etc, containing links to a website. “Our team is very excited at the growth of this platform and don’t believe it’s going to slow down any time soon. Our campaign managers are all intimately familiar with Instagram and are ready to optimise brand campaigns,” says Greeff.
To complete the social media sales loop, SPARK Media also offer advertisers access to LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter, as well as a number of power mobile platforms such as BBM, Vodacom and many more.
